East Hampton Beach House
Located in the landmarked seaside district of East Hampton, this property had a great deal of historical charm, and making sure we preserved it was crucial. The goal was to reinvent a home which had a magnificent structure but a lackluster interior. Seemingly interminable interior walls and corridors had to be demolished, merged or removed completely, leaving wide open spaces which now gives the steady ocean breeze a clear path through the heart of this old home. Once the plans were set, the house was gutted down to the studs, keeping as much of the original woodwork as was possible, and the remainder was started anew. The exterior of the property was maintained with the exception of the intervention of a 30 foot-wide telescoping glass door system which allowed a clear opening to the pool yard. White and soft furnishings with intervals of sea friendly colors completed the renovation and turned this into a dream summer residence.
